Jan 2nd - 6th I was in Brazil

What up people...

Finally a good internet connection. I was in Brazil for about 1 week. I arrived on Dec 30th and I visited two cities - Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

Rio - I arrived in Rio de Janeiro on the 30th at 1pm. I took a cab to the hostel and asked if I had made the Boat Party (not even if I had a room)...Thais said yes and I changed into my clothes and hopped on the van to the docks. I got on the boat and it was freaking awesome. I took lots of pictures, met some cool people, and the Caipirinhas snuck up on me! Boat Party Pics!

On the 31st of Jan I decided to eat at a good Brazilian restaurant and get some great BBQ. I walked to the restaurant and got me a table and ate like a king. The waiters serve you all kinds of beef steak, pork, and chicken. I did not want any salad or other filler foods. I got served some great steaks some of the best I´ve had. They bring the gigantic pieces of meat on huge skewers and then slice you a portion. It was awesome! Later that night I went back to the hostel and I Clankety-Clanked with some people. Around 9pm I met up with Ady´s friend, Michael, and his friends. We had an awesome time. We went to Filipe´s uncle´s apartment on the beach and partied there first then we walked to Ipanema beach to celebrate the New Year! They are extremely cool people and I was glad I spent the New Year partying with them. New Year´s Eve Pics!

Jan 1st 2007. I woke up with a little buzz still going from the night before. I chilled this day. I lounged around the hostel, watched TV, and talked to people.

Jan 2nd - Hannah, Kahli, others, and myself took a tour to Cristo Redentor on Corcovado Canyon. Pedro, hostel staff, was our driver and our guide. This guy is crazy and always is either high or drunk, he is very cool! We also hiked up a stairway with art on the steps and on the walls to the side. We saw the aqueduct that runs through the city, we saw a lot of graffitti on the walls, real nice. Pics up later...

At night, Hannah, Kahli, Andy, Viv, and I went to Santa Teresa to have some great seafood. Pedro had told us that in Santa Teresa the seafood was great. During the day it is cool to be on the streets, its a different story during the night. When we got to Santa Teresa, after a long cab ride, the restaurant he had recommended was closing and could not serve us. We opted for another close by, and it sucked! The service was terrible and the food was not that great. We went back to the hostel and to my surprise a lot of people were going to Samba at the Favela.

Samba at the Favela is held at Salgueiro Favela. It can get dangerous at night but the music and the dancing are very cool. It was an experience! There are very beautiful women dancing and showing off their excellent samba moves. I danced a little and picked up the samba just a bit. The music is energizing and so are the women. We got back to the hostel at 5AM. Pics up later...

Jan 3rd - Today was going to be my last day in Rio but I missed my bus! I didn´t care because that gave me a chance to do other things. In the morning I went to the Rohcinha Favela, the world´s largest favela. The tour Be A Local! is great! The guides, whom are very well known and respected, take you walking through the favela, no other agency does this! You get to see the people and the drugdealers that live in the favela. The kids there love being photographed and they love for you to show them their picture. I got the opportunity to see some drug dealers carrying walkie-talkies and machine guns. We couldn´t take any pictures of them, otherwise we´d probably be shot! It was a great experience. Part of the proceeds of the tour go to the children´s center inside the favela, where about 50 children stay. Pics up later...

The favela is the real ghetto, fuck the ghettos we have in the states, excuse the language but it is true.

At night I went to a Fohrro in Lapa at the Democraticos night club. Fohrro is a variation of salsa and merengue. I could actually get the steps in this. I met two cute girls and we danced and had a good time. About 31 people from the hostel came out to this event and we all had a blast. René, staff, went with us and he was having the time of his life it seemed. This guy was in dancing mode all night...as soon as he danced with a girl he would turn around and danced with another, it was cool seeing him in action. As the night came to an end, the girls and I had danced ourselves off. One of them spoke English and the other Spanish. They were really good friends and we exchanged info to keep in contact. One of them wants to come on a trip with me next year! Pics up later...

When we got back to the hostel, around 430AM, René asked another guy and me if we wanted to keep partying! Naturally we said yes! We went to several bars and saw some gorgeous women...we bought them drinks and hung out with them. This guy is freaking insane, no wonder he always looks tired like he never sleeps. NO PICS! hehehe!

At 7AM we got back to the hostel and I had to get ready to leave Rio which I did not want to do, but I had to. I missed my bus again this time because I didn´t wake up at 8AM because I decided to take a nap before I caught the bus at 930AM. I got up at 10AM and headed to the bus station to see if I could get another bus and not have to pay again. I did get another bus, only me! BIG UPS TO THE BEST HOSTEL STONE OF A BEACH! Thanks!

Jan 4th - I traveled mostly all day and got to Sampa, what the people of Sao Paulo call it, at night. I got to the hotel Alice, Ady´s friend, had recommended and stayed in for the night as I was tired from partying from last night til today and traveling.

Jan 5th - I had some great sushi in the Japanese neighboorhood in Sampa. Liberdade is the chinatown of Sampa. Sampa is like an up-and-coming NYC. It has a lot of huge buildings and a lot of museums. I visited the Museo do Arte do Sao Paulo and walked the crowded streets. Alice and I were supposed to meet up at night but something came up and we couldn´t meet...hopefully we will another time.

Jan 6th - I visited the Pinacoteca, the Museo do Lingua Portuguesa, and the Parque do Luz. I then went to the bus station to catch the bus to Foz do Iguacu, BR.
